When I'm not selling, tasting , learning about wine...I enjoy being out on the boat with my husband and dog Stanley.

Wine's at WALMART

Maybe this confirms what is often said about "wine snobbery." Wal-Mart announced that, sometime in 2009, it will begin offering customers a new discount item ... Wal-Mart's own brand of wine. The world's largest retail chain is rumored to be teaming up with Ernest & Julio Gallo Winery of California to produce the spirits at an affordable price -- in the $2 to $5 range.

Wine connoisseurs may not be inclined to put a bottle of the Wal-Mart brand into their shopping carts, but "There is a market for inexpensive
wine." said Kathy Micken, professor of marketing at University of Arkansas, Bentonville. "However, branding will be very important."

Customer surveys were conducted to determine the most attractive name for the Wal-Mart wine brand. The top surveyed names in order of popularity were:

  1. Chateau Traileur Parc
  2. White Trashfindel
  3. Big Red Gulp
  4. World Championship Riesling
  5. NASCARbernet
  6. Chef Boyardeaux
  7. Peanut Noir
  8. I Can't Believe it's not Vinegar
  9. Grape Expectations
  10. Nasti Spumante

The beauty of Wal-Mart wine is that it can be served with either white meat (Possum) or red meat (Squirrel).

December is here

Its the first day of December and its business as usual.

After the Thanksgiving Holiday shared with family ad friends its time to buckle down and get back to work. Despite the new news that were in a recession, like we didn't know that already. I'm not letting that get me down. People are still going to drink wine, still going to shop. Just going to use more caution.

So, back to work we need to go. If unfortunate times have fallen on you and your family, keep smiling, be proactive rather than reactive.

Cheers

OND

Its O.N.D boys and girls....that Oct. Nov. Dec for you that are not in the wine bizz.

The busiest 3 months of the year. Time to sell sell sell. Clear out the warehouse, get ready for new vintages and new wines.

Time for optimism. time for good will and most of all time spent with family and friends.

I know what I'll be enjoying with family and friends this OND season, Food, Wine and Fellowship.

So turn that frown upside down, stop in to your favorite restaurant, fine wine shop, club house and pop a cork or two and enjoy.

Cheers
